Information to Candidates, Examiners and Delegates

Dear Candidate and Colleague,
The XIV EBOMFS RQ-Assessment will be held in Madrid, Spain, between the 23rd and 25th of September 2022.

Due to exceptional circumstances (COVID pandemic), the XIV EBOMFS RQ-Assessment will be partially online. The venue will be the Hospital Universitario Gregorio Marañon de Madrid, located in PABELLÓN DOCENTE CALLE IBIZA 45. Ample accommodation is available close to the venue.

Step 1. Application

Application for the XIV EBOMFS RQ-Assessment should be done through EBOMFS website ( www.ebomfs.eu ). Oral- and maxillofacial surgeons willing to participate the Assessment are asked to submit their CV and logbook (academic activity and clinical activity) through the website. The regulations and criteria are found in www.ebomfs.eu . Those, who meet the criteria will continue to step 2. . Deadline to submit the application is June 5th , 2022.

Step 2. MCQ and Oral examination

The scope of the Assessment has been defined in the European Training Requirements in Oral & Maxillo–Facial Surgery (UEMS 2021.36) . [ Standards ]. The scope includes history–taking, prevention, examination, treatment and rehabilitation of congenital and acquired pathologic conditions of the cranium, face, mouth, jaws and neck. Acquired conditions can result from disease, malformation, tumour, trauma, degeneration and ageing.

The Assessment in Madrid is composed of two parts: a multiple Choice Questions written examination and an oral examination. The MCQ Examination will be conducted at the Hospital Universitario Gregorio Marañon de Madrid, PABELLÓN DOCENTE CALLE IBIZA 45, on the second floor (rooms 1–2) and on the third floor (rooms 3–4)

The total number of MCQs is 50 + 5. One choice out of four per question is correct, no negative points will be applied. Don’t forget to bring a pen with you to the MCQ examination! If a candidate does not take part in the MCQ Examination, he / she is then not eligible to take the Oral examination.

The oral examination will be conducted on Saturday 24th and on Sunday 25th of September. The oral examination will take place at the Hospital Universitario Gregorio Marañon de Madrid, PABELLÓN DOCENTE CALLE IBIZA 45, on the second floor (rooms 1–2) and on the third floor (rooms 3–5). This interview will last about one hour.

The examiners will ask questions, using a pool of questions approved by the scientific committee of EBOMFS. The available languages of the oral examination are English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Due to pandemic, one or two of the three examiners will be online. The platform of communication used will be TEAMS software. The online security will have been tested.

Candidates must bring three of their own cases, at least one of those will be presented and discussed. The duration of the presentation is limited to 15 minutes incl. discussion. The powerpoint presentations (mandatory: ‘windows format’) should be delivered a day prior to the oral examination using a memory stick, preferably at the time of registration.


Award Ceremony

The award ceremony for the successful candidates will take place on Sunday 26thof September.


The timetable for Oral Examination will be announced July 2022.
